PRINTING & ASSEMBLY CALIBRATING PRINTER SETTINGS

PRINTING & ASSEMBLY -- Calibrating Printer Settings

This section contains additional information on printing options for stickers, labels, business cards, certificates and ID badges.

Adjust Your Printer Paper Guides
To ensure that your printer feeds the design stock correctly, check to see that the paper guides are snug against the paper and set to the correct size.

Use the Right Stock
Use design stock that is made for the type of printer you are using -- inkjet labels for ink jet printers, laser labels for laser printers. Remember, you cannot print all the way to the edge of each label because of printer margin limitations.

Adjust Scale
If you are using labels that extend beyond where the printer can print and your images are cutting off, you can adjust the scale of the images in the Print dialog box. Check the "Scale labels to Fit within Printer Margins" item at the bottom of the dialog box, and your designs will be "scaled" to fit within the printable area.

Print Nudge
If your printer consistently registers images just slightly off from where they should be, try using the Print Nudge located at the bottom of the Print Dialog Box (refer to the help file within the ColorStore program for more information.)

Label Coverage
Label Coverage lets you specify a percentage of the actual design that you want to print. You won't be able to print to the edge of the design, but you will be sure that the image prints in the desired area.

You can also overprint to ensure that you get full coverage on your design or by specifying a number over 100%. Beware: This option may provide full coverage, but the background color of one label may spill over into neighboring ones.

If you use overprinting, you may want to try to print out labels or designs with the same color background, or only print on every other label on the page.

Labels to Skip
If you do a lot of "one-up" labels, one or two designs at a time, you can re-feed the same sheet of labels until they are all used. You can do this one of two ways:

1. In the workspace, place labels or designs only in spaces on the page where you want them to print.

2. Enter an amount in the Number of Labels to Skip Before Printing area in the Print Dialog Box. (Refer to the help file within the ColorStore program for more information.)
